The Preassembled Machine

The ever helpful ticos unboxed all the parts I ordered1 and assembled my computer for me. It looks reasonably put together, but my knowledge of computer assembly is zilch. I don't even know where I'd place my two hard drives with this setup.

The interface to the motherboard has no cover. That appears a recipe to expediate the dust collecting process.

  1. Save for the SD card reader, which they did not include and did not bother to tell me it was missing until after I was picking up the package from the post office. []

From looking up the case briefly it looks like there's supposed to be an attachable cage for HDDs. (The kinda weirdness you get with "compact" designs I guess.)

The missing back cover is called the I/O shield; one purpose is EMI reduction, though perhaps that's a lost cause on a case where a whole side is nonmetallic. It was supposed to come with the motherboard.

The attachable cages are inside the case.

Yup, they took the manual + sata cables + io shield that came with the motherboard. (They likely only had a used motherboard to sell me.)
